    Panchakarma: safety & suitability

The right procedure begins with an individual assessment.

Before Panchakarma is planned, your physician reviews your current health, medicines, reports and the reason for considering treatment. Together, you can discuss the proposed procedure, its practical demands and what to expect before deciding to proceed.

    A considered decision

    Consultation comes first

Not every procedure is appropriate for every patient, and Panchakarma is not needed in every treatment plan.

    Before a treatment plan

Give your physician the full picture.

    Your health history

Discuss existing diagnoses, recent illness or surgery, previous treatment and any adverse reactions. Tell your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

    Medicines & reports

Bring previous prescriptions, relevant investigations and a current list of all medicines and supplements. Advice on continuing, changing or stopping them follows an individual review.

    Practical needs

Discuss mobility, travel, time away from work and help you may need after a visit. Some plans require several consecutive clinic visits.

    Useful safety information

Ask about the procedure being proposed.

The name Panchakarma covers procedures with different methods and demands. Physician supervision and careful selection matter; they do not make every procedure risk-free.

    Medicines and materials

Tell the physician about allergies or past reactions and ask which medicines, oils or other materials will be used. These are selected for your individual condition, rather than assumed to be identical for everyone.

    Purgation and fluid loss

Treatments involving laxative effects can cause diarrhoea and dehydration. Ask how the proposed procedure will be monitored, what symptoms need attention and what instructions apply to you. Do not attempt purgation or enema procedures from website instructions.

    Preparation and diet

Follow the preparation and dietary guidance given for your own plan. Do not start a restrictive diet, fasting programme or self-directed “cleanse” in anticipation of treatment.

    Before, during and after

    Know what each stage involves.

    Preparation

Your doctor explains any preparatory medicines, procedures and dietary guidance. The sequence and timing depend on the treatment selected.

    The clinic visit

All procedures are carried out under Ayurvedic physician supervision. Ask questions before starting and tell the treating team promptly if you feel unwell or uncomfortable.

    Aftercare & follow-up

Follow the instructions for your specific procedure. Rest, transport assistance or accompaniment may be advised according to your condition; these are not universal requirements.

    Responsible expectations

Understand the basis of the advice.

Classical descriptions and traditional use explain the Ayurvedic context. Clinical experience informs individual decisions, while contemporary research must be considered for the specific procedure and condition. A traditional explanation is not, by itself, proof of a biomedical effect or a guaranteed result.

We do not present Panchakarma as a universal “detox” or promise a cure.

    Outpatient care has limits

Ashtaang provides outpatient treatment without overnight admission or accommodation. The clinic does not provide emergency or 24-hour services.

If urgent medical care is needed, seek appropriate emergency care rather than waiting for a clinic appointment or WhatsApp reply.
